Comparing the In Vitro Antitumor, Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Activities between Two New Very Long Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids, Docosadienoic Acid (DDA) and Docosatrienoic Acid (DTA), and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)

Yi Chen et al.

Summary: This study found that DDA and DTA exhibited better antitumor, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects in human cells compared to DHA. Further studies are needed to explore their mechanisms of action and potential applications as novel nutraceutical supplements in preventing inflammatory conditions, aging, and even cancer.

Role of Adipose Tissue in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Eva Karaskova et al.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are chronic inflammatory disorders affecting the gastrointestinal tract. Obesity, particularly visceral adiposity, plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of IBD, influencing disease severity and clinical outcomes. Visceral adipose tissue is actively involved in lipid storage, immunological and endocrine activity, serving as a barrier to inflammation and potentially the main source of cytokines and adipokines associated with IBD.

Palm Fruit Bioactive Complex (PFBc), a Source of Polyphenols, Demonstrates Potential Benefits for Inflammaging and Related Cognitive Function

Susan J. Hewlings et al.

Summary: Cognitive function is crucial for healthy aging, with inflammaging being a primary risk factor for cognitive decline. A diet high in antioxidants and polyphenols, such as the Mediterranean Diet, can lower the risk of age-related cognitive decline. PFBc, a phenolic derived from palm oil, is reported to offset inflammation and improve cognitive function through its high antioxidant and polyphenol content.
