Long non-coding RNA EWSAT1 promoted metastasis and actin cytoskeleton changes via miR-24-3p sponging in osteosarcoma

Dewei Shen et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated that EWSAT1 is up-regulated in osteosarcoma (OS) and its elevated expression is associated with poor prognosis in OS patients. Knockdown of EWSAT1 suppressed cell migration and induced actin stress fibre degradation. We also found that ROCK1 is a key downstream effector in EWSAT1-mediated cell migration and actin stress fibre changes. Our results suggest that the EWSAT1/miR-24-3p/ROCK1 axis could be a potential new target for OS treatment.

Gene regulation by long non-coding RNAs and its biological functions

Luisa Statello et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shed new light on the biogenesis and functions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), showcasing their diverse roles in gene regulation and signaling pathways, particularly in the contexts of neuronal disorders, immune responses, and cancer. The discovery of unique biogenesis pathways and subcellular localizations of lncRNAs has opened up potential therapeutic avenues for targeting lncRNAs in various biological and pathophysiological conditions.

TAp73 represses NF-κB-mediated recruitment of tumor-associated macrophages in breast cancer

Johanna Wolfsberger et al.

Summary: Low levels of TAp73 are correlated with an increased NF-kappa B-regulated inflammatory signature in breast cancer, leading to hyperactivation of NF-kappa B pathway and secretion of Ccl2, which results in accumulation and phenotype transformation of pro-tumoral macrophages. These findings suggest that TAp73 regulates macrophage accumulation and phenotype in breast cancer through inhibition of the NF-kappa B pathway.

Incidence of Ewing's Sarcoma in Different Age Groups, Their Associated Features, and Its Correlation With Primary Care Interval

Salahuddin Khan et al.

Summary: The peak time for the occurrence of Ewing's sarcoma is from 15 years to 20 years of age, with regional painful swelling being the most common presenting feature in the study population. Factors contributing to a prolonged primary care interval include early age of onset, non-specific clinical presentation, and insufficient knowledge of the primary care physician, leading to a poor prognosis.
