This paper proposes a new energy-aware CH selection method using hierarchical routing and a hybrid optimization model to prolong network lifetime by minimizing distance, stabilizing energy, and reducing data transmission delay. The introduced CI-ROA algorithm is a hybrid of ROA and CS algorithms, aiming to select the optimal CH for network optimization.
In fact, Cluster Head (CH) can be selected randomly or based on one or more criteria that directly pave the way for maximizing network lifetime. However, the selection of cluster head makes an optimization problem, and so far, more research work have been introduced to select the optimal cluster head under different optimization models. Under this scenario, this paper intends to propose a new energy-aware CH selection by hierarchical routing in WSN by a new hybrid optimization model. Further, the selection goes with certain criteria like energy stabilization, minimization of distance among nodes, minimization of delay during data transmission. The defined non-linear objective function attains the lifetime prolonging through selecting the optimal CH. The introduced algorithm is termed as Cuckoo Insisted-Rider Optimization Algorithm (CI-ROA), which is the hybridization of Rider Optimization Algorithm (ROA) and Cuckoo Search (CS) Algorithm. At last, the performance of the proposed work is compared and proved to other conventional models. (C) 2021 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
