Comparative study on growth, survival and pigmentation of Solea aegyptiaca larvae by using four different microalgal species with emphasize on water quality and nutritional value

Gihan M. El-Khodary et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of different water sources on the aquaculture of Solea aegyptiaca, showing that a water source with high nitrate content can enhance algal biomass, biochemical composition, and subsequently improve the nutrient content and growth of S. aegyptiaca. Using Artemia enriched with this water source resulted in better morphometric parameters and nutrient content in S. aegyptiaca, but may also lead to albinism.

Population Dynamics, Fecundity and Fatty Acid Composition of Oithona nana (Cyclopoida, Copepoda), Fed on Different Diets

Fawzy I. Magouz et al.

Summary: The study aimed to improve the production and nutritional quality of copepod, Oithona nana, using different diets (soybean, yeast, rice bran, and corn starch). Among all diets, corn starch revealed the highest population growth, while animals nourished by rice bran showed the highest percent of copepodite, nauplii, and fecundity. Overall, dry feeds, especially corn starch, are very useful and applicable in hatcheries for maximizing the fecundity and density of Cyclopoida copepod species, O. nana.

Productivity and Post-Harvest Fungal Resistance of Hot Pepper as Affected by Potassium Silicate, Clove Extract Foliar Spray and Nitrogen Application

Shimaa M. Hassan et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the growth and productivity of hot pepper under the effects of potassium silicate (PS) and clove water extract (CWE) with different rates of nitrogen fertilization. Results showed that increasing nitrogen rates led to higher fruit yield, and foliar application of PS and CWE had a positive impact on fruit yield as well.
