Integration of Motor Learning Principles Into Virtual Reality Interventions for Individuals With Cerebral Palsy: Systematic Review

Marika Demers et al.

Summary: This study found that there is room for improvement in the integration of motor learning principles in virtual reality interventions targeting upper limb function in individuals with cerebral palsy. While most studies provided enhanced feedback and variable practice using functionally relevant and motivating virtual tasks, there was a lack of integration of difficulty progression, skills retention, and transfer assessment, especially in commercial video games.

Somatosensory deficits and neural correlates in cerebral palsy: a scoping review

Clementine Brun et al.

Summary: Studies assessing somatosensory deficits and alterations in cerebral responses in individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) compared to typically developing individuals have found a focus on tactile and proprioceptive functions, with less attention on pain function. Neuroimaging has shown changes in cortical responses to somatosensory stimuli in CP patients. Future research should focus on defining methods more rigorously and include a more representative sample of the CP population.
