Nanoparticles as Novel Emerging Therapeutic Antibacterial Agents in the Antibiotics Resistant Era

Faria Fatima et al.

Summary: Microorganisms resistant to antibiotics are a serious public health issue, leading to a need for monitoring microbial behavior using nanomaterials. Nanotechnology has produced novel antimicrobial agents like gold, silver, and zinc, which show potential in fighting pathogenic bacteria and can also be used for diagnostics and drug delivery. Nanomaterials provide a promising platform for disease treatment with minimal toxicity, but concerns remain over health, bioethics, and environmental impact.

Enhanced Ordering of Block Copolymer Thin Films upon Addition of Magnetic Nanoparticles

Magdalena Konefal et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Fe3O4@PAA nanoparticles can selectively segregate inside P4VP domains, enhancing the microphase separation process and resulting in highly ordered nanostructured thin films. The addition of these nanoparticles does not alter the average interdomain spacing in the film lateral nanostructure, and they can be easily removed to obtain well-ordered nanoporous templates.

Resistance and Adaptation of Bacteria to Non-Antibiotic Antibacterial Agents: Physical Stressors, Nanoparticles, and Bacteriophages

Sada Raza et al.

Summary: Antimicrobial resistance poses a significant threat to human health globally, leading scientists to explore non-traditional antibacterial agents to combat drug-resistant bacteria. New antibiotic-free approaches are being developed at the intersection of physics, nanotechnology, and microbiology, while the effectiveness of these solutions in the long term remains uncertain.
