Transformation beyond conservation: how critical social science can contribute to a radical new agenda in biodiversity conservation

Kate Massarella et al.

Summary: This article reviews recent proposals for transformative change in biodiversity conservation, highlighting the crucial role of critical social science in politicizing and pluralizing debates, as well as facilitating the identification of transformative alternatives. The operationalization of this critical social science approach in the CONVIVA project is also demonstrated as a means to pursue transformative change in biodiversity conservation.
