Clinical impact of urinary CD11b and CD163 on the renal outcomes of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated glomerulonephritis

Yuki Yokoe et al.

Summary: The detection of leukocyte-derived CD11b and CD163 in urine may reflect renal inflammation in ANCA-GN, and CD11b at diagnosis can predict the recovery rate after the treatment of ANCA-GN.

Urine soluble CD163 (sCD163) as biomarker in glomerulonephritis: stability, reference interval and diagnostic performance

Anne J. Nielsen et al.

Summary: The study validated the potential of urine sCD163 as a biomarker for GN and established a reference interval. Urine sCD163 was found to be generally increased in GN patients, decreased upon treatment, but did not outperform urine albumin. The commercial assay had a higher detection limit, resulting in lower patient levels compared to the in-house assay.

Immunophenotypical Characterization of M1/M2 Macrophages and Lymphocytes in Cisplatin-Induced Rat Progressive Renal Fibrosis

Minto Nakagawa et al.

Summary: Renal fibrosis is considered as a common final pathway in chronic kidney diseases, where macrophages and myofibroblasts play crucial roles; the interaction between M1/M2 macrophages and CD4/CD8 T cells contributes to the progressive development of renal interstitial fibrosis.

Deciphering the Role of Heme Oxygenase-1 (HO-1) Expressing Macrophages in Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Maxime Rossi et al.

Summary: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a leading cause of acute kidney injury (AKI) and contributes to the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Macrophages play a critical role in IRI-induced AKI, with heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) modulating macrophage polarization and providing protection against renal IRI.
