Influence of base fluid, temperature, and concentration on the thermophysical properties of hybrid nanofluids of alumina-ferrofluid: experimental data, modeling through enhanced ANN, ANFIS, and curve fitting

S. O. Giwa et al.

Summary: The study investigated the suspension of hybrid nanoparticles in conventional fluids to improve the thermophysical properties of nanofluids, specifically focusing on the trio influence of volume concentration, base fluid, and temperature on the electrical conductivity and viscosity of hybrid alumina-ferrofluids. The results showed that an increase in volume concentration enhanced the viscosity and electrical conductivity of the hybrid alumina-ferrofluids, while a rise in temperature enhanced their electrical conductivity but detracted the viscosity. Additionally, DW-based hybrid alumina-ferrofluid exhibited lower viscosity and higher electrical conductivity compared to the EG-DW-based counterpart.

A novel approach to investigate the thermal comfort of the lightweight relocatable building integrated with PCM in different climates of Kazakhstan during summertime

Indira Adilkhanova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of PCM and natural ventilation in enhancing thermal comfort in lightweight relocatable buildings in Kazakhstan during summer. The study introduced a new indicator, TDC, to select the optimal PCM and evaluated the performance in terms of both TDC values and storage efficiency. The research concluded that PCM 26 + NV was the best performing combination in all cities, and highlighted the efficiency of RT 26 + NV in improving thermal comfort conditions. Further analysis under climate change scenarios identified RT 28 + NV and RT 26 + NV as the optimum combinations for future use.

Quantitative evaluation of the thermal and energy performance of the PCM integrated building in the subtropical climate zone for current and future climate scenario

Gauhar Nurlybekova et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of PCM on the thermal and energy performance of buildings in six cities in the subtropical climate zone, and assessed the effects of future climate change using a hybrid downscaling approach. Different PCMs showed advantages in different seasons, with PCM 28-PCM 30 recommended for use in most cities. The energy performance of buildings is projected to see an increase in cooling energy demand and a decrease in heating energy demand under future climate scenarios.

Summary: The study suggests that the materials used in buildings are the most significant factor affecting the energy consumption of HVAC systems. A hybrid calculation model is employed to evaluate thermal comfort in buildings, reflecting their energy consumption. Simulation results of vernacular buildings and autoclaved aerated concrete buildings show that vernacular buildings have the highest energy saving potential throughout the day.

Multi-factor analysis on thermal comfort and energy saving potential for PCM-integrated buildings in summer

Y. Qu et al.

Summary: The multi-factor orthogonal simulation analysis explored the impact of four key parameters of PCM-integrated building envelopes on energy consumption and indoor thermal comfort in Chinese climate. The influence of these parameters on energy saving and indoor temperature fluctuation was discussed, with the optimal solution being the use of BioPCMTM23 (PCM2) with 7 cm thickness on both wall and roof. Integrating PCM into the envelope can effectively reduce indoor temperature fluctuations and achieve significant energy savings by selecting PCMs based on local climatic conditions.
