Genetic Diversity and Azole Resistance Among Natural Aspergillus fumigatus Populations in Yunnan, China

Duanyong Zhou et al.

Summary: The emergence and spread of azole resistance alleles in Aspergillus fumigatus isolates presents a global health concern, particularly in greenhouses where the extensive use of azole fungicides is driving high levels of resistance. Despite lower frequencies of resistance in outdoor populations in Yunnan, China, there is evidence of multiple independent origins of resistant strains and significant genetic differentiation between subpopulations. It is crucial for local and regional studies to be conducted to develop targeted control strategies against azole-resistant A. fumigatus.

Extensive Genetic Diversity and Widespread Azole Resistance in Greenhouse Populations of Aspergillus fumigatus in Yunnan, China

Duanyong Zhou et al.

Summary: The study investigated the genetic variation and triazole drug susceptibility in Aspergillus fumigatus from greenhouses around metropolitan Kunming in Yunnan, China, and found abundant allelic and genotypic variations with a high frequency of triazole-resistant strains, some of which showed cross-resistance to both agricultural fungicides and medical triazole drugs. The research also provided evidence for multiple independent origins of azole-resistant genotypes in greenhouse populations in this region, calling for systematic evaluation of the effects of azole fungicide usage in greenhouses on human health.

Exploring the Species Diversity of Edible Mushrooms in Yunnan, Southwestern China, by DNA Barcoding

Ying Zhang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed 3585 mushroom samples collected from wild mushroom markets in 35 counties across Yunnan Province, discovering 159 known species and 20 new species. The data indicates a rich diversity of mushroom species in Yunnan's wild mushroom markets, with many potential new taxa present.

Bipartite molecular approach for species delimitation and resolving cryptic speciation of Exobasidium vexans within the Exobasidium genus

Chayanika Chaliha et al.

Summary: The molecular identification of Exobasidium vexans, the causative agent of blister blight disease in tea, poses a challenge due to limited genomic data availability and cryptic speciation within the genus. This study successfully utilized the ITS DNA barcode for molecular identification, confirming the evolutionary relationship and speciation process within the genus. The research sheds light on the significance of molecular barcode-based species delimitation and evolutionary relationship of E. vexans within its genus Exobasidium.
