Rosmarinic Acid Regulates Microglial M1/M2 Polarization via the PDPK1/Akt/HIF Pathway Under Conditions of Neuroinflammation

Yicong Wei et al.

Summary: The study found that rosmarinic acid can inhibit microglial polarization to the M1 phenotype and promote polarization to the M2 phenotype under conditions of neuroinflammation. An increase in mitochondrial respiration and metabolic reprogramming are necessary for this process. Additionally, the study suggests that regulation of HIF expression through the PDPK1/Akt/mTOR pathway by rosmarinic acid may offer a potential therapeutic approach for inhibiting neuroinflammation by modulating microglial M1/M2 polarization.

Rosmarinic acid inhibits migration, invasion, and p38/AP-1 signaling via miR-1225-5p in colorectal cancer cells

Kaiyan Yang et al.

Summary: This study highlights the inhibitory role of miR-1225-5p in the migration and invasion of colorectal cancer cells through regulating multiple signaling pathways. Additionally, Rosmarinic acid (RA) has been found to inhibit the metastasis of colorectal cancer cells. The essential role of miR-1225-5p in the anti-metastatic effects of RA is also emphasized.

Protective effect of rosmarinic acid-rich trichodesma khasianum clarke leaves against ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in vitro and in vivo

Guan-Yu Wang et al.

Summary: The results of this study demonstrated the remarkable gastroprotective effect of 80EETC treatment in vitro and in vivo, including suppressing inflammatory mediator protein levels, improving antiapoptotic ability and wound healing capability, promoting gastric mucosal healing, increasing gut microbiota diversity, and short-chain fatty acid production. These findings are the first to show the powerful protective effect of T. khasianum Clarke leaves against gastric mucosal injury development.

Identifying Toxicologically Significant Compounds in Urban Wildfire Ash Using In Vitro Bioassays and High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry

Summary: The study found that urban wildfires can produce unknown toxic chemicals, which were identified through analysis of ash samples with high bioactivity. Despite differences in chemical compositions, the bioactivity of ash samples from residential areas did not significantly differ from the undeveloped reference site samples. Overall, the combination of nontarget analysis, in vitro bioassays, and statistical analysis proved effective in identifying bioactive compounds in complex mixtures.

Rosmarinic acid inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and induces apoptosis in human glioma cells

Summary: The study found that RA, as a Fyn inhibitor, has anti-tumor effects in U251 and U343 glioma cells, significantly suppressing cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and inducing apoptosis. Additionally, RA exerts its cytotoxicity by modulating the PI3K/Akt/NF-kappa B signaling pathway.

Inhibitory Effect of a Rosmarinic Acid-Enriched Fraction Prepared from Nga-Mon (Perilla frutescens) Seed Meal on Osteoclastogenesis through the RANK Signaling Pathway

Kanokkarn Phromnoi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of various perilla seed meal fractions and their impact on osteoporosis. The ethyl acetate fraction of seed meal showed the highest antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, with a high content of rosmarinic acid. It was found that this fraction effectively suppressed RANKL-induced osteoclast formation by downregulating NF-kappa B, AP-1 activation, and NFATc1 expression, and inhibited ROS production as well. These results suggest that the ethyl acetate fraction rich in rosmarinic acid has potential for osteoclastogenic protection and health promotion.

Summary: Studies suggest that compounds like coelonin and militarine found in orchids can inhibit the damage caused by PM2.5 pollutants by reducing inflammation factors. These compounds work by suppressing PM2.5-induced IKK phosphorylation, leading to inhibition of inflammation and migration.
