Developmental vascular malformations in EPAS1 gain-of-function syndrome

Summary: Mutations in the EPAS1 gene can lead to a new clinical feature - vascular malformations, which are present in both syndrome patients and mutant mice. The variant allele frequency in patient vessels is higher than in normal tissues, and veins in the murine retina and intracranial dura fail to regress as expected at the developmental time points.

A cellular and spatial map of the choroid plexus across brain ventricles and ages

Summary: This study presents a single-cell and spatial atlas of each ChP in the mouse brain, highlighting diverse cell types, states, and expression programs in different ventricles at different stages of development, maturation, and aging. The atlas reveals regionalized expression patterns of epithelial and fibroblast cells by ventricle, with significant transcriptional shifts during maturation and minor shifts in aged cell types. Epithelial cells upregulate host-defense programs with aging, while resident macrophages upregulate IL-1 beta signaling genes.
