Influence of Selenium on Growth, Physiology, and Antioxidant Responses in Maize Varies in a Dose-Dependent Manner

Summary: Selenium is an important element for humans, animals, and plants, but there is a narrow margin between deficiency and toxicity. This study found that high selenium concentration negatively affected maize growth, while low selenium levels promoted plant height and root length. High selenium levels inhibited plant growth and led to a reduction in gas exchange parameters.
