Simplified and Advanced Sentinel-2-Based Precision Nitrogen Management of Wheat

Variable rate application accuracy of a centrifugal disc spreader using ISO 11783 communication data and granule motion modeling

Summary: Variable rate fertilization based on maps has become popular in conventional crop farming, but applying mineral fertilizer with a centrifugal spreader can lead to deviations from the prescribed rates due to spread pattern coverage of different zones. The accuracy of application can be improved by developing a model to accurately position the spreader and define the final position and mass of each granule in the field. The developed model showed a root-mean-squared error of 2.1% and a correlation coefficient of 0.96, indicating good accuracy in assessing deviations from prescribed rates.
