Worldwide Prevalence of Small Ruminant Lentiviruses in Sheep: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Ricardo de Miguel et al.

Summary: Maedi-visna is a progressive wasting disease of sheep caused by Small Ruminant Lentiviruses (SRLV). Europe has the most information on SRLV prevalence and the highest SRLV prevalence at the individual level. Flock prevalence is directly related to individual prevalence, and future studies should use a combination of at least two diagnostic tests for accurate results.

Gene Expression Profile in Peripheral Blood Nuclear Cells of Small Ruminant Lentivirus-Seropositive and Seronegative Dairy Goats in Their First Lactation

Joanna Plawinska-Czarnak et al.

Summary: This study utilized a transcriptomic array specifically designed for goats to investigate gene expression profiles of peripheral blood nuclear cells from SRLV-seropositive and SRLV-seronegative goats. Only four genes showed differential expression, suggesting an active inflammatory mechanism in SRLV-seropositive goats at the early stage of infection.
