A Robust Procedure for Machine Learning Algorithms Using Gene Expression Data

Md Rabiul Auwul et al.

Summary: Cancer classification is an important task in analyzing big biological datasets. Machine learning algorithms have been widely used for this purpose, but they often perform poorly in the presence of outliers. In this study, a robust approach for efficient and accurate classification of samples using noisy GEDs is proposed, and its performance is compared with traditional MLAs using simulated and real gene expression data analysis.

CRISPRidentify: identification of CRISPR arrays using machine learning approach

Alexander Mitrofanov et al.

Summary: CRISPR-Cas are adaptive immune systems that rely on RNA components to degrade foreign genetic elements. Our tool, CRISPRidentify, uses machine learning to detect and differentiate true CRISPR arrays from false ones based on multiple features, providing detailed annotations to users. This approach not only accurately identifies known CRISPR arrays but also detects previously undetected CRISPR array candidates with a significantly reduced false positive rate.

ECMarker: interpretable machine learning model identifies gene expression biomarkers predicting clinical outcomes and reveals molecular mechanisms of human disease in early stages

Ting Jin et al.

Summary: The study introduces an interpretable and scalable machine learning model, ECMarker, that can predict gene expression biomarkers for disease phenotypes and simultaneously reveal underlying regulatory mechanisms. By applying it to gene expression data of non-small-cell lung cancer patients, ECMarker not only accurately predicts cancer stages but also identifies biomarker genes and gene networks, suggesting regulatory mechanisms in lung cancer development. Additionally, ECMarker demonstrates clinical interpretability by predicting survival rates of early lung cancer patients using prioritized biomarker genes.
