Poorly differentiated is more significant than signet ring cell component for lymph node metastasis in mixed-type early gastric cancer: a retrospective study from a large-volume hospital

Jin-Nan Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the presence of poorly differentiated components in mixed type gastric cancer increases the risk of lymph node metastasis, while endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is recommended for lesions consistent with ESD criteria to reduce the risk of LNM.

Should Signet Ring Cell Histology Alter the Treatment Approach for Clinical Stage I Gastric Cancer?

Michael K. Turgeon et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that surgery alone may lead to improved survival for clinical stage I signet ring cell gastric adenocarcinoma. Adjuvant therapy offers a favorable rescue strategy for patients upstaged to pathologic stage II/III, with better outcomes compared to preoperative treatment. Surgery alone also shows similar or improved survival for pathologic stage I disease compared to multimodality therapy.

Different clinicopathologic features and prognostic significance of signet ring cell histology in early and locally advanced gastric cancer patients

Bochao Zhao et al.

Summary: The study compared the prognostic significance of signet ring cell (SRC) histology in gastric cancer (GC) patients at different stages, finding that SRC type had varying survival outcomes and clinicopathologic characteristics. In locally advanced GC patients, SRC type was associated with poorer prognosis compared to other types.

Clinicopathological factors affecting the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with gastric cancer

Lin Jiang et al.

Summary: In a retrospective study on gastric cancer patients, factors such as age <60, histological type of poor differentiation or signet-ring cell carcinoma, and weight loss during neoadjuvant chemotherapy were identified as independent risk factors for the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Patients with weight loss >2.95% during neoadjuvant chemotherapy may have a worse chemotherapy effect. Providing timely nutritional support such as oral nutritional supplements to maintain patients' body weight is crucial for improving the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
