Marek's disease virus US3 protein kinase phosphorylates chicken HDAC 1 and 2 and regulates viral replication and pathogenesis

Yifei Liao et al.

Summary: Marek's disease virus (MDV) is a potent oncogenic alphaherpesvirus that causes T-cell lymphomas in chickens. The U(S)3 protein kinase of MDV plays a crucial role in virus replication and pathogenicity. This study identified novel substrates for U(S)3 and characterized its impact on MDV pathogenesis.

Histone tails as signaling antennas of chromatin

Yunhui Peng et al.

Summary: Histone tails play crucial roles in chromatin signaling networks, serving as hubs in coordination of epigenetic processes within the nucleosomal context. Additionally, deposition of histone variants with distinct properties enriches histone tails' repertoire in epigenetic signaling. Recent data on histone tails' effects on nucleosome stability and dynamics, as well as their involvement in nucleosome recognition and formation of higher-order chromatin structures, have been reviewed with the advancement of experimental techniques and in silico modeling.
