Clinical, Immunological, and Molecular Features of Severe Combined Immune Deficiency: A Multi-Institutional Experience From India

Pandiarajan Vignesh et al.

Summary: This study described the clinical and laboratory features of SCID diagnosed at immunology centers across India, with data obtained from 277 children. Most patients were diagnosed with SCID around 5 months of age, and molecular diagnosis revealed different gene mutations. Despite some children receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, a majority of patients still died.

The Impact of Epstein-Barr Virus Infection on Epigenetic Regulation of Host Cell Gene Expression in Epithelial and Lymphocytic Malignancies

Merrin Man Long Leong et al.

Summary: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with various malignancies and can disrupt epigenetic regulation, influencing the development of cancer. The interaction between EBV and the host genome in different cancer types results in unique epigenetic features, suggesting that EBV may utilize different latency proteins to manipulate the epigenetic modulators in host cells for pathogenesis.

Novel CARMIL2 loss-of-function variants are associated with pediatric inflammatory bowel disease

Luca Bosa et al.

Summary: Novel biallelic CARMIL2 variants were identified in three patients with pediatric-onset IBD and one with APS. None of the patients showed overt clinical signs of immunodeficiency before diagnosis. Reduced CARMIL2 expression was observed in bowel biopsies of IBD patients, and altered expression pattern of the missense variant was revealed in transfected cells.
