Feasibility, Safety and Efficacy of Enhanced Recovery after Living Donor Nephrectomy: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Apostolos Prionas et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis comparing ERAS with standard perioperative practice in living kidney donors found that ERAS led to shorter length of stay and lower incidence of post-operative complications. ERAS donors also reported decreased narcotic use during their hospital stay, less bodily pain, and improved emotional status one month postoperatively. Incorporating multimodal pain control interventions in ERAS protocols resulted in a mean reduction of 1 day in donors' length of stay.
