Visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution using nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dot-implanted polymer dots as metal-free photocatalysts

Mohamed Hammad Elsayed et al.

Summary: This study presents a metal-free photocatalytic system structure with promising efficiency for hydrogen production by combining an organic semiconducting polymer and N-doped carbon quantum dots to form polymer dots. The design enhances charge separation and photocatalytic efficiency, leading to increased hydrogen evolution rate by approximately 5-fold. Through transient absorption measurement, the role of N-doped carbon quantum dots in enhancing the catalytic activity of the organic semiconducting polymer dots is investigated.

Bromophenol blue doped in nano-droplet: spectroscopy, nonlinear optical properties and Staphylococcus aureus treatment

M. Pourtabrizi et al.

Summary: The study found that BPB-doped NDs have better nonlinear refractive index compared to BPB aqueous solution, and the second-order hyperpolarizability of BPB-doped NDs decreases with a reduction in ND size due to reduced dye aggregation. Additionally, BPB-doped NDs were used in antibacterial photodynamic therapy of Staphylococcus aureus, resulting in a significant decrease in bacterial colonies in the treated group.

Soft luminescent solar concentrator film with organic dye and rubbery matrix

Kukhyun Jo et al.

Summary: The study introduces a soft luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) with superior light propagation, using rubbery poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) (EVA) instead of brittle poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). By analyzing the optical and structural properties, it was found that the overall optical properties of EVA-LSC were comparable to PMMA-LSC, with superior light decay property. The research suggests EVA as a replacement for PMMA in flexible and large-area LSC applications.
