Comparative study of photoreforming of glycerol on Pt/TiO2 and CuOx/TiO2 photocatalysts under UV light

Ekaterina A. Kozlova et al.

Summary: Pt/TiO2 and CuOx/TiO2 were synthesized and tested in the photoreforming of glycerol. Pt/TiO2 showed higher activity and stability, while CuOx/TiO2 produced a wider variety of products and a higher percentage of organic products from glycerol. Highest hydrogen evolution rates were 0.55 mmol h(-1) g(-1) for CuOx/TiO2 and 1.35 mmol h(-1) g(-1) for Pt/TiO2.

Fabricating 2D/2D/2D heterojunction of graphene oxide mediated g-C3N4 and ZnV2O6 composite with kinetic modelling for photocatalytic CO2 reduction to fuels under UV and visible light

Abdullah Bafaqeer et al.

Summary: The study investigated a 2D ZnV2O6 heterojunction modified by reduced graphene oxide and g-C3N4 for enhanced photocatalytic CO2 reduction under visible light. The composite catalyst showed excellent photoactivity, with a maximum CO yield rate 7.4 and 1.7 times higher than using g-C3N4 and ZnV2O6 alone, respectively. The improvements were attributed to the synergistic effect of the 2D layer heterojunction and enhanced charge separation by the RGO mediator under visible light.

Role of oxygen vacancy in metal oxide based photoelectrochemical water splitting

Zhiliang Wang et al.

Summary: Oxygen vacancies play a crucial role in the optimization of photoelectrodes for PEC water splitting, affecting light absorption, charge separation, and surface reaction kinetics. Although the presence of oxygen vacancies may increase recombination, recent research has shown their beneficial impact on PEC performance, contrary to previous understanding. A comprehensive analysis of oxygen vacancies in metal oxide photoelectrodes is essential for achieving high efficiency in PEC.
