Corrosion Behavior of Amorphous Sol-Gel TiO2-ZrO2 Nano Thickness Film on Stainless Steel

The effect of the substrate surface state on the morphology, topography and tribocorrosion behavior of Si/Zr sol-gel coated 316L stainless steel

Summary: In this study, a Si/Zr based sol-gel coating was deposited on 316L stainless steel plates with different surface states produced by passivation or electropolishing. The coating thickness and topography were affected by the initial surface state of the substrate, but did not significantly alter the tribocorrosion response of the SG systems. Both systems showed an increase in current during sliding contact cycles, indicating corrosion activity.
