Laser treatment of specific scar characteristics in hypertrophic scars and keloid: A systematic review

Thijs C. H. Oosterhoff et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the effects of different laser systems on specific objective characteristics of excessive scarring, with CO2 and Er:YAG fractional ablative lasers showing the best results for erythema, height, and pliability. However, there is heterogeneity in the results, and further randomized trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Mesenchymal stem cell therapy in hypertrophic and keloid scars

Christine Bojanic et al.

Summary: Scars resulting from abnormal wound repair processes like hypertrophic and keloid scars can significantly impair quality of life. While existing treatment options are unsatisfactory, there is increasing interest in using MSC therapy to address these abnormal scars, although human clinical trials are still lacking.
