More expansive horizons: a review of endovascular therapy for patients with low NIHSS scores

David J. McCarthy et al.

Summary: The efficacy of EVT for patients with low NIHSS scores remains uncertain, with significant heterogeneity and inconclusive results in existing literature. Future randomized clinical trials are needed to better understand the potential benefit of EVT in this patient population.

Imaging criteria across pivotal randomized controlled trials for late window thrombectomy patient selection

Bijoy K. Menon et al.

Summary: The study compared baseline characteristics, workflow, and outcomes in EVT arms of DAWN and DEFUSE-3 with late-window patients from the EVT-only arm of ESCAPE-NA1. Patients enrolled beyond 6 hours in the ESCAPE-NA1 trial based on NCCT-ASPECTS and mCTA had similar clinical outcomes compared to those selected by perfusion imaging in DAWN and DEFUSE-3 trials.

Prediction of Early Neurological Deterioration in Individuals With Minor Stroke and Large Vessel Occlusion Intended for Intravenous Thrombolysis Alone

Pierre Seners et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop and validate an easily applicable predictive score for early neurological deterioration following intravenous thrombolysis in patients with acute minor stroke and large vessel occlusion. The results showed that a score based on thrombus length and occlusion site had good discriminative power for identifying ENDi risk, with higher scores associated with greater probability of ENDi occurring.
