Trichinella spiralis-associated myocarditis mimicking acute myocardial infarction

Othmane Mohib et al.

Summary: Trichinella spiralis-associated myocarditis is a rare complication of trichinellosis that can mimic a myocardial infarction. In this case, a 35-year-old African man presented with acute chest discomfort and was diagnosed with eosinophilic myocarditis. Laboratory tests revealed high levels of troponin T and a strong positive serology for Trichinella spiralis. The patient was successfully treated with dual therapy consisting of albendazole and prednisolone.
