Studies on calculation method and bandgap properties of a nonlocal piezoelectric phononic crystal nanoplate

Xiangrong Song et al.

Summary: By incorporating nonlocal elastic theory and Kirchhoff plate theory into the plane wave expansion (PWE) method, the band structure of a nonlocal piezoelectric phononic crystal (PC) nanoplate was successfully calculated, revealing a complete band gap with a magnitude on the order of gigahertz (GHz). The study investigated the influence rules of thermo-electro-mechanical coupling fields, nonlocal effects, and geometric parameters on band gaps, with parameters including temperature variation, electrical voltage, external axial force, nonlocal coefficient, lattice constant, PZT-4 hole radius, and nanoplate thickness.

A non-classical model for first-ordershear deformation circular cylindrical thin shells incorporating microstructure and surface energy effects

G. Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: A new non-classical model for first-order shear deformation circular cylindrical thin shells is proposed, incorporating microstructure and surface energy effects. Analysis of static bending and free vibration problems shows that these effects lead to changes in shell deflection, rotation angles, and natural frequencies, with a more significant impact on thinner shells that diminishes as thickness increases.

A non-classical model for circular cylindrical thin shells incorporating microstructure and surface energy effects

G. Y. Zhang et al.

Summary: A non-classical model for circular cylindrical thin shells is developed using a modified couple stress theory and a surface elasticity theory, which provides a unified treatment of microstructure and surface energy effects. The new model shows better performance and predictive ability by simultaneously considering both microstructure and surface energy effects.

Microstructure-dependent Band Gaps for Elastic Wave Propagation in a Periodic Microbeam Structure

Gongye Zhang et al.

Summary: A new model has been developed to predict band gaps for flexural elastic wave propagation in periodic microbeam structures, taking into account material parameters, beam thickness, unit cell length, and volume fraction. Numerical results show that band gap frequency range increases with material parameters, and the predicted band gap size is larger than that of the classical model, especially for thin beams. Unit cell length and volume fraction also have significant effects on the band gap.

Flexural wave band structure of magneto-elastic phononic crystal nanobeams based on the nonlocal theory

Shunzu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study establishes a theoretical model for magneto-elastic PC nanobeams, and analyzes the influence of nonlocal effects, pre-stress, and magnetic field on the band structure. The results show that the nonlocal effect and geometric parameters play key roles in determining the high order band gaps.

Dispersion Diagram of Trigonal Piezoelectric Phononic Structures with Langasite Inclusions

Edson Miranda et al.

Summary: The use of Langasite in 1-3 piezoelectric phononic structures shows promising results in improving material properties, especially in enhancing band gap widths and opening up narrow band gaps at lower frequencies. This study provides valuable insights for the design of surface acoustic wave filters and 1-3 piezocomposite transducers using Langasite in PPnSs.

Bending, Buckling and Vibration Analysis of Complete Microstructure-Dependent Functionally Graded Material Microbeams

Jun Hong et al.

Summary: A new functionally graded non-classical Timoshenko microbeam model has been developed, incorporating strain gradient, couple stress, and velocity gradient effects to explain power-law variation in two-phase materials. The model demonstrates significant differences from classic models when the FGM beam thickness is very small, but these differences diminish as thickness increases.
