Nonlinear amplification based on a tightly phase locked 750 MHz Yb:fiber frequency comb

Summary: A nonlinear amplification system was developed in this paper for a low noise 750MHz ytterbium-doped fiber frequency comb, with the repetition rate stabilized to a continuous wave laser using a bulk electro-optic modulator. By controlling dispersion, the high-power frequency comb light source proposed can deliver over 10W of <90 fs pulse trains with an integrated relative intensity noise instability of 0.04%.

Quantum diffusion of microcavity solitons

Summary: Studies have found that coherently pumped solitons in an ideal optical microcavity exhibit weak interaction and common-mode suppression of quantum fluctuations when they are counter-propagating, while co-propagating solitons show relative timing jitter well below the quantum limit due to their strong correlation of mutual motion. The experimental results are in good agreement with theory, establishing the fundamental limits to timing jitter in soliton microcombs and providing new insights on multisoliton physics.

Summary: The integration of low-noise stimulated Brillouin scattering process, dissipative Kerr soliton comb, and optical-to-electrical conversion has led to the generation of a 300 GHz signal with a phase noise of -100 dBc Hz(-1). The optical frequency division via optical frequency combs has revolutionized microwave metrology and shows great potential for application in the millimeter-wave and terahertz-wave domains. Disipative Kerr solitons in integrated photonic chips are emerging as a leading technology with ultrahigh repetition rates in the millimeter-wave and terahertz-wave fields.

Ultra-precise optical phase-locking approach for ultralow noise frequency comb generation

Summary: This study presents an approach to construct an ultralow-noise OFC by utilizing electro-optic modulators as fast actuators to extend the feedback bandwidth. By measuring the optical beat signal and carrier-envelope offset frequency, the architecture is validated to ensure coherent tracking of an optical reference with ultralow noise, indicating a universal tool for accurate, high-resolution optical spectroscopy.

Summary: Investigation on the relative phase evolution between two bounded optical solitons is essential for its potential applications in development of larger telecommunication capacity of optical fiber transmission lines, resolution improvement in advancing ultrafast characterization approaches and development of all-optical information storage. Our spectral interference fringe tracking technique is attractive for its simplicity and shows potential in ultra-high resolution in phase noise measurement, providing an ultra-sensitive alternative approach for relative phase noise stabilization of optical soliton molecules, two independent mode-locked lasers and optical length stabilization of interferometers. The results indicate the significant role of AM-PM conversion in relative phase jitter dynamics between the two solitons.
