Unmanned aerial vehicle oblique photography-based superposed fold analysis of outcrops in the Xuhuai region, North China

Hongyu Lai et al.

Summary: The UAV oblique photography technology is widely used in the analysis of superposed fold in the Xuhuai region, demonstrating its capability in providing true 3D models and efficient results. By analyzing two outcrops, different generations of folds were identified and their formation mechanisms were speculated.

Structure-from-Motion-Derived Digital Surface Models from Historical Aerial Photographs: A New 3D Application for Coastal Dune Monitoring

Edoardo Grottoli et al.

Summary: Recent advances in structure-from-motion techniques have led to the widespread use of UAVs in monitoring coastal landform changes, with the best method resulting in an error value of 0.93 m. The application of modern SfM methodology to historical aerial photography analysis is a novel and reliable approach for quantifying coastal dune volume changes.

Accuracy assessment of direct georeferencing UAV images with onboard global navigation satellite system and comparison of CORS/RTK surveying methods

Mustafa Zeybek

Summary: This study tested and compared the positional accuracy of benchmarks and point clouds produced on three consecutive days using different flight combinations at 75 and 100 m flight altitude. The results showed that UAV data can achieve acceptable positional accuracy levels without the need for GCPs.

Photogrammetry Using UAV-Mounted GNSS RTK: Georeferencing Strategies without GCPs

Martin Stroner et al.

Summary: This study examines systematic elevation errors in georeferencing UAV-acquired imagery without using ground control points (GCPs), and proposes strategies for eliminating this error. By conducting multiple flights at different altitudes and image acquisition axes, the research demonstrates a linear dependence between focal length deviation and systematic elevation error, and shows that a combination of two flights with different image acquisition axes can reduce the error to less than 0.03 meters. Overall, georeferencing without GCPs is a feasible alternative to traditional methods.

Multitemporal Landslide Inventory and Activity Analysis by Means of Aerial Photogrammetry and LiDAR Techniques in an Area of Southern Spain

Tomas Fernandez et al.

Summary: This paper utilizes aerial photogrammetry and LiDAR techniques to analyze landslide activity in an area near Jaen, Southern Spain over a 32-year period. By processing data and combining photointerpretation, multiple types of landslides were identified, and different periods of activity were related to rainy events and dry years.
