A comprehensive review on the integration of advanced oxidation processes with biodegradation for the treatment of textile wastewater containing azo dyes

Anuj Chaturvedi et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the integrations of various advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) with biodegradation for the treatment of textile azo dyes, aiming to reduce the processing cost and improve the degree of mineralization. Results show that ozone treatment alone is the most efficient in decolorization, while all three AOPs independently offer varied and inadequate COD reduction. The integration of AOPs with biodegradation further reduces COD and TOC levels, and has the potential to significantly reduce treatment costs. The review suggests further research in sequencing chemical and biological routes for complete detoxification of textile azo dyes.

Kinetics and removal pathwayof basic fuchsin by electrochemical oxidization

Li Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, Basic Fuchsin was decomposed by electrochemical oxidization and the kinetic parameters, dominant reaction routes, intermediates, energy cost evaluation, and biotoxicity were systematically discussed. The decolorization process was found to be a pseudo first-order reaction with different apparent rate constants at various temperatures. The main reaction processes included electropolymerization reaction, oxidation cleavage reaction, free radical reaction, and open ring reaction, resulting in decreased electrical energy consumption and reduced eco-toxicity of Basic Fuchsin.
