Combustion of sewage sludge in a fluidized bed of catalyst: ASPEN PLUS model

A. V. Fedorov et al.

Summary: This study presents the simulation results of a sewage sludge combustion plant with a productivity of 6 tons per hour using ASPEN Plus. It shows that catalytic combustion technology can efficiently utilize mechanically dehydrated sludge and discusses the impact of sludge moisture and calorific value on the combustion process, as well as the emissions of harmful substances and methods for their treatment.

Activated carbons from biomass-based sources for CO2 capture applications

Nada Abuelnoor et al.

Summary: In an effort to reduce excessive anthropogenic CO2 emissions, various CO2 capture technologies have been developed, with activated carbon being a promising option. Derived from agricultural waste and biomass, activated carbon can be enhanced for CO2 capture through different preparation methods and functionalization, making it suitable for industrial applications like wastewater treatment.

Activated carbon nanofibers incorporated metal oxides for CO2 adsorption: Effects of different type of metal oxides

Faten Ermala Che Othman et al.

Summary: In this study, activated carbon nanofibers (ACNFs) incorporated with different metal oxides were successfully prepared using a simple electrospinning and pyrolysis process. Among the four types of metal oxides investigated, magnesium oxide (MgO) incorporated ACNF2 showed the highest CO2 adsorption capacity, indicating great potential for enhanced adsorption performance.

Enhanced hydrogen production in co-gasification of sewage sludge and industrial wastewater sludge by a pilot-scale fluidized bed gasifier

You-Hsin Chen et al.

Summary: This research investigates enhanced hydrogen production in sewage sludge and industrial wastewater sludge co-gasification. The experimental results demonstrate that the high catalytic Fe/Mn content in industrial wastewater sludge increases hydrogen production, with the produced gas heating value and cold gas efficiency falling within acceptable ranges.

Theoretical investigation of CO2 adsorption mechanism over amine-functionalized mesoporous silica

Kivanc Basaran et al.

Summary: This study investigated CO2 adsorption over functionalized mesoporous silica and found that hydrogen bonding interactions with surface silanols and neighboring amines were critical for the formation and stabilization of the adsorption products. It was also shown that surface silanols played a significant role in the thermodynamics and kinetics of the reaction mechanism, and could directly participate in the reaction. The impact of amine functionality on the reaction mechanism was found to be less conclusive compared to surface silanols under the conditions employed in this study.
