Decorating graphdiyne on ultrathin bismuth subcarbonate nanosheets to promote CO2 electroreduction to formate

Shang-Feng Tang et al.

Summary: The study introduces a catalyst consisting of graphdiyne-decorated bismuth subcarbonate (denoted as BOC@GDY) for efficient electroreduction of CO2 to formate. The BOC@GDY demonstrates a stable current density of 200 mA cm(-2) at -1.1 V, with a high faradaic efficiency for formate. Experimental results suggest that the synergistic effect in BOC@GDY enhances CO2 adsorption affinity, reaction kinetics, and selectivity for formate.

Electrochemical CO2 reduction on graphdiyne: a DFT study

Tianfu Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the activity and selectivity of graphdiyne towards CO2RR using density functional theory calculations. The results indicated that the hybridization of sp-sp(2) is crucial for high activity, and nitrogen-doping further improves the activity and selectivity towards CH3OH and CH4 products. The study predicts the high activity of graphdiyne towards CO2RR and highlights the key role of hybridization on the reactivity of carbon catalysts.
