Bacteria-dye combination screening: Diamine-containing BMeS-p-A dye for specific fluorescence imaging of Acinetobacter baumannii

Sangrim Kang et al.

Summary: We proposed a new screening strategy for fluorescence staining of specific bacteria strains, particularly drug-resistant ones. The strategy utilizes BMeS-p-A dye for selective staining of Gram-negative Acinetobacter baumannii and carbapenem-resistant AB, facilitating monitoring of biofilms in medical supplies. This study's findings have potential for further applications in various medical fields.

Human Glioblastoma Visualization: Triple Receptor-Targeting Fluorescent Complex of Dye, SIWV Tetra-Peptide, and Serum Albumin Protein

Jong Min An et al.

Summary: Fluorescence guided surgery (FGS) is a powerful technique for precise surgery, but clinically approved fluorescent dyes often present limitations. In this study, a novel triple receptor-targeting fluorescent complex (BSA-OXN-SIWV) was developed for the targeted visualization of human glioblastoma (GBM) cells and tissues, showing promising potential for clinical application in GBM identification and surgery.

Spectral characterization, antioxidant, antimicrobial, cytotoxic, and cyclooxygenase inhibitory activities of Aloysia citriodora essential oils collected from two Palestinian regions

Nidal Jaradat et al.

Summary: The study identified chemical components of AC essential oils from two different locations in Palestine using GC/MS technique. The Baqa al-Gharbiyye AC EO showed stronger antioxidant and cytotoxic activities than the Umm al-Fahm EO, but both exhibited potential antimicrobial effects against MRSA, P. vulgaris, and C. albicans.

Carbon dots with positive surface charge from tartaric acid and m-aminophenol for selective killing of Gram-positive bacteria

Huibo Wang et al.

Summary: Gram-positive bacteria are common pathogens causing severe infections, and hospital infections caused by them have increased significantly. Abusing antibiotics has led to dangerous drug resistance, prompting the development of cationic carbon dots with high antibacterial efficiency. These CDs with positive surface charge can selectively kill Gram-positive bacteria and have potential as alternative antibacterial agents.
