Summary: This study overcomes the limitations of phase change materials in thermal conductivity and liquid leakage through a stabilization-form solution. By utilizing Hexadecane as PCM, SEBS trTblock copolymer, LDPE, and EG, the researchers successfully prepared form-stable composites with improved heat transfer capabilities. Testing showed no hexadecane leakage at a 75% mass fraction, surpassing values reported in the literature.

Improving transient performance of thermoelectric generator by integrating phase change material

Kuo Huang et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new concept of integrating phase change material with TEG to improve its transient performance and overall efficiency. By selecting Pentaerythritol as the suitable PCM, the impact of exhaust gas temperature fluctuations on automotive TEG is reduced, thereby improving efficiency under various driving conditions. Experiments show that the open circuit voltage and power output can be improved by 0.7% and 1.16%, respectively, with the integration of PCM.

Performance Analysis and Optimization of a SnSe-Based Thermoelectric Generator

Monikuntala Bhattacharya et al.

Summary: The study focuses on optimizing the performance of a SnSe-based thermoelectric generator through finite element modeling considering electrical contact loss and various heat losses under different heat boundary conditions. By strategizing to design only a p-legged architecture, step-by-step optimization of internal and system level parameters has been carried out for practical application in automobile exhaust. Comparative analysis shows that the multiple p-legged architecture outperforms the traditional p-n-legged architecture in terms of efficiency and power output, especially under the isoflux heat boundary condition.
