Atmospheric pressure conversion of carbon dioxide to cyclic carbonates using a metal-free Lewis acid-base bifunctional heterogeneous catalyst

Hushan Chand et al.

Summary: A metal-free boron-doped graphitic carbon nitride catalyst has been developed for effective conversion of CO2 to cyclic carbonates under solvent-free conditions, showing a maximum yield of 99% with a turnover number of 173. The catalyst possesses acid-base dual functionality and detailed optimization studies have been conducted to find the best doping content and conditions. The catalyst's ease of recovery and excellent recyclability demonstrate its sustainability and versatility for selective and efficient conversion of CO2.

Hydrogen bond donor functionalized poly(ionic liquid)s for efficient synergistic conversion of CO2 to cyclic carbonates

Haibin Gou et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a heterogeneous catalyst with high efficiency and recyclability by introducing hydrogen bond donor (HBD) groups into poly(ionic liquid)s, enabling the conversion of CO2 into high value-added products. Experimental results demonstrated that HBD-functionalized poly(ionic liquid)s exhibited excellent catalytic performance and recyclability, suggesting a promising approach for green technology utilizing poly(ionic liquid)s.
