Mechanical properties of solution heat treated Al-Zn-Mg-Cu (7075) alloy under different cooling conditions: Analysis with full field measurement and finite element modeling

Summary: The effect of W-temper heat treatment on the mechanical properties and fracture of high strength aluminum alloy 7075 sheet was studied experimentally and numerically. Different cooling conditions were considered, and the mechanical properties were measured along with the analysis of strain and strain rate distributions using DIC technique. The simulation of LDH formability test shows good agreement with experiments when the PLC effect and planar anisotropy are properly implemented.

Investigation of the friction coefficient evolution and lubricant breakdown behaviour of AA7075 aluminium alloy forming processes at elevated temperatures

Summary: The lubricant behavior at elevated temperatures was investigated through pin-on-disc tests between P20 tool steel and AA7075 aluminum alloy. The evolution of the coefficient of friction (COF) was observed to consist of three distinct stages with different friction mechanisms, influenced by temperature, contact pressure, and sliding speed. In the final stage, lubricant breakdown occurred due to increased temperature, contact pressure, sliding speed, and decreased initial lubricant volume, leading to high friction values at the interface.
