Tumor antigens heterogeneity and immune response-targeting neoantigens in breast cancer

Monica Benvenuto et al.

Summary: Breast cancer, the most common type of cancer in women, is often fatal due to its heterogeneity and limited immunogenicity. Specific active cancer immunotherapy aims to stimulate the immune response against cancer cells using a vaccine carrying tumor antigens. Neoantigens, specifically tailored to individual tumors, are promising targets for immunotherapy as they generate a specific reaction towards tumors.

The signaling pathways and targets of traditional Chinese medicine and natural medicine in triple-negative breast cancer

Zimei Yang et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the mechanisms and clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine and natural medicine in the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer. Evidence shows that their anti-tumor activity targets multiple pathways, providing a basis for new drug development and the need for further experimental research to enhance their clinical application.

Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Musculoskeletal Symptoms in Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Chin Long Poo et al.

Summary: This study assessed the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating musculoskeletal symptoms in breast cancer patients treated with aromatase inhibitors (AIs). The results indicated that TCM could effectively relieve pain, particularly worst pain and pain interference, and improve quality of life. Further research on molecular pathways and safety profiles is still needed.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
