Preparation, characterization and antioxidant activity of protocatechuic acid grafted carboxymethyl chitosan and its hydrogel

Chao Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, protocatechuic acid was grafted onto carboxymethyl chitosan to enhance antioxidant effect, where the conjugates showed improved radical scavenging activities and chelating activity. The prepared hydrogel exhibited sustained release of PCA-containing degraded fragment and protective effect against oxidative damage, suggesting its potential in drug release and tissue engineering applications.

Design and optimization of polymerization parameters of carboxymethyl chitosan and sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate hydrogels as wound dressing materials

Wichaya Kalaithong et al.

Summary: The research focused on synthesizing, characterizing, and testing the properties of hydrogel wound dressings. The study was divided into two main parts, the synthesis and characterization of CMCTS, and the preparation of hydrogels composed of Na-AMPS and different compositions of CMCTS with varying concentrations of PEGDA (crosslinker).

Cerium Oxide Nanoparticle-Loaded Gelatin Methacryloyl Hydrogel Wound-Healing Patch with Free Radical Scavenging Activity

Robin Augustine et al.

Summary: Hydrogel patches incorporated with cerium oxide nanoparticles were developed for promoting diabetic wound healing in this study. The patches showed excellent exudate uptake capacity and free radical scavenging activity, promoting the proliferation of skin-associated cells and effectively improving the healing of wounds in diabetic rats. The results indicate that these patches are promising materials for developing clinically relevant treatment for diabetic wounds.
