Blood-brain barrier opening with low intensity pulsed ultrasound for immune modulation and immune therapeutic delivery to CNS tumors

Kevin Beccaria et al.

Summary: Pulsed low intensity ultrasound has been developed as a safe technique to open the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and enhance the delivery of immune therapeutics to the brain, showing promising results in preclinical and clinical studies for brain tumor treatment. Ultrasound-induced BBB disruption not only controls tumor growth but also stimulates immune responses.

Bibliometric Analysis of the Inflammasome and Pyroptosis in Brain

Yuhua Chen et al.

Summary: This study visually analyzed the research hotspots of inflammasome/pyroptosis related to the brain over the past two decades using bibliometrics from the Web of Science Core database. It was found that publications regarding inflammasome and pyroptosis in the brain have been increasing gradually since 2005, with expectations of further increase in 2020. Investigating mitochondrial molecules involved in the complex crosstalk of pyroptosis and regulated cell deaths in brain glial cells is recommended to facilitate the development of effective therapeutic strategies targeting inflammasome/pyroptosis.
