A systematic review of the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and apathy in frontotemporal dementia, atypical and young-onset Alzheimer's disease, and inherited dementia

Jessica D. Collins et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review to investigate the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and apathy in rarer dementias such as frontotemporal dementia, primary progressive aphasia, posterior cortical atrophy, young-onset AD, and inherited dementias. The study found that these three symptoms were commonly reported across these dementias, but the prevalence varied greatly between studies. The study suggests that future research should include larger sample sizes and harmonized protocols to better understand the presentation of these symptoms in different dementias.
