Alterations of spatiotemporal and ground reaction force variables during decelerated sprinting

Ryu Nagahara et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate changes in spatiotemporal and ground reaction force variables during 90m overground decelerated sprinting and the determinants of speed decrease. Results showed that decreases in speed were associated with changes in step frequency, support time, and net anteroposterior mean force. The findings suggest that compromised ability to maintain propulsive force and an increase in braking force contribute to the decrease in running speed during short-distance overground sprinting.

Lower Extremity Kinematic and Kinetic Asymmetries during Running

Mikel Renee Stiffler-Joachim et al.

Summary: This study investigated asymmetries during running in healthy collegiate athletes, finding that the magnitude of asymmetry varies depending on the variable of interest, with small differences observed in sex and speed which are unlikely to be meaningful.
