Renewable Energy Communities business models under the 2020 Italian regulation

Summary: This study focuses on sizing the active part of an energy community, namely a solar photovoltaic system with electrochemical energy storage. Through a multicriteria optimization procedure, the self consumption and self sufficiency of the community are evaluated, with economic indicators used to determine the most performing configuration. Results show positive economic and environmental performances for different business model options, making the exploitation of Renewable Energy Communities in Italy an attractive prospect.
