Ag2S nanoparticle-mediated multiple ablations reinvigorates the immune response for enhanced cancer photo-immunotherapy

Ruxia Han et al.

Summary: Photothermal therapy (PTT) using water-soluble Ag2S nanoparticles (NPs) has shown promising results in cancer treatment. Studies have found that multiple PTT cycles with Ag2S NPs can inhibit primary tumor cell proliferation, reduce tumor recurrence, and alleviate metastasis by stimulating the immune response in a mouse breast cancer model.

Thermo-responsive polymer encapsulated gold nanorods for single continuous wave laser-induced photodynamic/photothermal tumour therapy

Beilei Gong et al.

Summary: Gold nanoparticles are considered a versatile platform for biomedical applications due to their strong and tunable surface plasmon resonance effect and good biocompatibility. This study designed a new nanoplatform incorporating gold nanorods and indocyanine green to enhance photodynamic/photothermal combination therapy. The polymer shell in the nanoplatform has thermo-responsive characteristics that control drug release at tumour sites, leading to increased drug aggregation and improved therapeutic efficacy.
