One step electrochemical exfoliation of natural graphite flakes into graphene oxide for polybenzimidazole composite membranes giving enhanced performance in high temperature fuel cells

Jianuo Chen et al.

Summary: A 3D-printed reactor was designed for electrochemical exfoliation of natural graphite flakes to obtain high degree of oxidation graphene oxide. By adjusting the electrolyte concentration and reaction time, the degree of oxidation can be further increased. The electrochemically exfoliated graphene oxide was successfully used to prepare composite membranes for high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells, resulting in significant improvement in peak power density.

Achieving high power density and excellent durability for high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells based on crosslinked branched polybenzimidazole and metal-organic frameworks

Yingnan Wu et al.

Summary: This study utilized crosslinked branched PBI as the matrix and introduced MOF UiO-66 to construct proton transport channels, effectively improving the proton conductivity and long-term stability of the composite membrane. In fuel cell tests, the MEA based on the composite membrane achieved a good peak power density at high temperatures, demonstrating excellent durability.
