Long-term temporal patterns in flight activities of a migrant diurnal butterfly

Summary: Recent studies analyzed the annual migratory activity patterns of the Painted Lady butterfly in Hungary and found that spring arrivals are advancing, the intensity of migratory peaks has increased, and the timing of the last peak is related to previous month's temperature. This indicates a strengthening migration of the butterfly, likely due to warming trends shifting wintering areas northward in Europe. However, the complex processes leading to changing migratory strategies call for further research in breeding and wintering areas.
