An improved complementary relationship for estimating evapotranspiration attributed to climate change and revegetation in the Loess Plateau, China

Tiansheng Li et al.

Summary: The study found that alpha(c) in the Loess Plateau exhibits spatial and temporal variability, primarily influenced by aridity index (AI) and average Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) during the growing season. The quantified impacts of climate change (mainly expressed by an increase in precipitation) and revegetation (quantified by the NDVI increase) showed that climate change contributes the most to the ET increase (approximately 68% on average), while revegetation also plays a significant role (approximately 32% on average), highlighting the importance of managing water consumption by evapotranspiration in sustainable development.

Contributions of vegetation restoration and climate change to spatiotemporal variation in the energy budget in the loess plateau of china

Linjing Qiu et al.

Summary: The study found that land cover changes in the Loess Plateau region from 2000 to 2015 had a positive impact on net radiation and sensible heat, with significant increases observed in specific areas where cropland was converted to grassland or forestland. Additionally, simulation experiments showed that under climate warming, the increases in net radiation and latent heat were more pronounced, indicating a shift in the local surface energy budget towards latent heat.

Soil moisture responses under different vegetation types to winter rainfall events in a humid karst region

Weihong Yan et al.

Summary: Soil moisture plays a crucial role in plant growth and hydrological processes. The study on the response characteristics of soil moisture under different vegetation types reveals that grassland areas exhibit the most sensitive response to rainfall. Among different rainfall events, grassland areas show the greatest variation in soil moisture content.

Quantifying spatiotemporal variations in soil moisture driven by vegetation restoration on the Loess Plateau of China

Linjing Qiu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of vegetation restoration on soil moisture dynamics on the Loess Plateau of China using earth system reanalysis data and the Community Land Model (CLM). Results showed that while the surface layer soil moisture responded positively to vegetation restoration, the subsurface and deeper soil layers had negative responses. Overall, there was a decreasing trend in soil moisture during the simulation period, with significant differences observed spatially and seasonally.

Quantifying the Responses of Evapotranspiration and Its Components to Vegetation Restoration and Climate Change on the Loess Plateau of China

Linjing Qiu et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively analyzes the influence of vegetation restoration on water resources in the Loess Plateau region. The research finds that the effects of vegetation restoration on evapotranspiration are outweighed by the impacts of vegetation dynamics, resulting in a weak overall impact and only a slight increase in total evapotranspiration in summer. Climate change appears to play a dominant role in driving variability in evapotranspiration on the Loess Plateau.

Spatiotemporal Assessment of Land Marketization and Its Driving Forces for Sustainable Urban-Rural Development in Shaanxi Province in China

Xindong Wei et al.

Summary: This study aims to measure the level of land marketization in Shaanxi Province during the period 2008-2019 and analyze its driving forces. The research findings indicate a decline in land marketization from 2008 to 2014, with fluctuations upwards from 2014 to 2019. Urbanization, non-agricultural output, and foreign direct investment were identified as the main driving factors of land marketization.
