Copper-Coated Polypropylene Filter Face Mask with SARS-CoV-2 Antiviral Ability

Sunghoon Jung et al.

Summary: By depositing a 20 nm copper thin film on a spunbond PP filter surrounding a KF94 face mask, additional protection and decreased risk of secondary transmission were achieved. The copper-coated mask exhibited high filtration efficiencies and demonstrated significant antiviral effects against SARS-CoV-2. This suggests that copper-coated PP filters could be important materials in personal protective equipment and air-conditioning systems.
