Natural and Socioeconomic Factors and Their Interactive Effects on House Collapse Caused by Typhoon Mangkhut

Xiangxue Zhang et al.

Summary: The study used GeoDetector and a local indicators of spatial association method to investigate the impact of natural and socioeconomic factors on the rate of house collapse caused by typhoon disasters. Results showed that maximum precipitation was the dominant factor, while the interaction between elevation and the ratio of brick-wood houses had the greatest influence on the house collapse rate.

Spatiotemporal heterogeneity and its determinants of COVID-19 transmission in typical labor export provinces of China

Li Wang et al.

Summary: COVID-19 exhibited significant spatiotemporal heterogeneity in the labor export regions of China. The high-risk regions were mainly located in areas adjacent to the epicenter and in major cities serving as traffic hubs. Population access to the epicenter, as well as local economic and medical conditions, played a crucial role in the interactive effects of disease transmission.

Predicting PM2.5 and PM10 Levels during Critical Episodes Management in Santiago, Chile, with a Bivariate Birnbaum-Saunders Log-Linear Model

Rodrigo Puentes et al.

Summary: This study focuses on air quality in Santiago, Chile, proposing a predictive model based on bivariate regression to estimate PM levels. Birnbaum-Saunders distributions and relevant meteorological variables are employed to improve accuracy, with the Mahalanobis distance used to assess outliers and the local influence technique to analyze model parameters. The predictions are categorized according to primary air quality regulations for PM.
