Running Performance Variability among Runners from Different Brazilian States: A Multilevel Approach

Summary: The study found that the performance of runners in different states of Brazil may vary, influenced by biological, training, sociodemographic, and environmental factors. State-level characteristics only explained approximately 3% of the variance in running performance, while individual-level factors such as gender, age, body mass index, economic status, environmental perception, training frequency, and weekly volume had a more significant impact on performance.
