Green mobility and obesity risk: A longitudinal analysis in California

Samantha Gailey et al.

Summary: This study utilized a longitudinal sibling-linked dataset to control for unmeasured stable characteristics and found that a positive change in neighborhood greenness is inversely associated with obesity risk. The results suggest that even small decreases in neighborhood greenness may have protective associations with obesity risk. If replicated, changing levels of greenness in the residential environment could potentially combat the rise of obesity.
